Yeongjong & the Airport
영종도·공항
Airport-side nights for first and last flights, with sunset beaches on the same island.

The short answer
Stay on Yeongjong when your flight sets the timetable. Incheon International Airport, open since 29 March 2001, stands on this island, and both terminals now carry Yeongjong-gu addresses. The Airport Railroad's all-stop trains run from the terminals to Unseo and Yeongjong stations: on the airport's own route diagram, Unseo comes 14 minutes after Terminal 2 and Yeongjong 18 minutes. KTO's airport guide notes that most public transport into central Seoul stops around 23:30, so a late landing or a dawn check-in is the moment for a night here.
The other side of the island is the coast. KTO says Eurwangni Beach is known for amazing sunsets and was designated a National Tourist Site in 1986; Wangsan Beach, it writes, is famous for its view of the setting sun, and Masian Beach pairs wetland with sand. None of them has a railway station: low-floor bus 204 stops at Eurwangni Beach, and a taxi covers the rest. Three bridges link Yeongjong across the water, the newest the Cheongna Sky Bridge, open since 5 January 2026.
Best for
- An early departure or a late landing
- Sunsets at Eurwangni and Wangsan
- A beach night before flying home
- Planes, sea and mudflats on one island
- Crossing to Songdo over Incheon Bridge
Think twice if
- Chinatown, Wolmido and the open-port streets
- Reaching the beaches by train: none has a station
- Ganghwa's dolmens and temples

From Incheon Airport
Board an all-stop Airport Railroad train at either terminal. The airport's route diagram counts from Terminal 2: Terminal 1 at 6 minutes, Cargo Terminal at 10, Unseo at 14 and Yeongjong at 18. The Express skips them all and runs non-stop to Seoul Station, Incheon City says. To move between terminals, the airport gives about 6 minutes by train, or a shuttle bus about every 10 minutes from 05:00 to 23:00.
From Seoul
From Seoul Station, ride the all-stop Airport Railroad towards the airport. Incheon City says general trains take about 66 minutes between Seoul Station and the airport, stop at 13 stations and run every 12 minutes; on the airport's diagram, Yeongjong, Unseo and Cargo Terminal are the last stops before Terminal 1. The Express, about 43 minutes between Terminal 1 and Seoul Station in KTO's guide (updated 2026), runs non-stop and passes them by.
From Songdo
Drive over Incheon Bridge, which links Yeongjongdo with Songdo. Incheon City dates it to October 2009 and gives it six lanes and about 21 km; KTO says the crossing takes within 20 minutes and saves more than 40 minutes on the trip to the airport. By rail, take Incheon Subway Line 1 to Gyeyang and change to the Airport Railroad for Unseo or Yeongjong.
By road from the mainland
Yeongjong Bridge, 4.4 km by KTO's figure, carries both highways and rail lines on its decks; before it, KTO says, boats were the only way onto the island. The Cheongna Sky Bridge, about 4.68 km, began operating on 5 January 2026 between Yeongjong and Cheongna International City, and IFEZ says it is open to cars, pedestrians and cyclists.
On your doorstep
- Eurwangni Beach About 700 m long with an average depth of only 1.5 m, KTO says, and designated a National Tourist Site in 1986. It is known for its sunsets and has a grass field and boat rental for fishing. KTO lists it as open 24 hours, all year.
- Wangsan Beach Famous for its view of the setting sun, KTO writes, and designated the first of the Eight Sites of Yongyu. Pine trees back the sand, the mood is more relaxed than at Eurwangni, and there is a campground nearby.
- Masian Beach A beach that offers, in KTO's words, an opportunity to experience both wetland and a sandy beach at the same time, with pine trees and views of Silmido. KTO lists it as open all year.
- Sky Garden A stop on KTO's airport-area course, which it calls a famous spot that combines airplanes with the natural landscape.
- Yeongjong Seaside Rail Bike On the same KTO course: a rail bike ride with views over the western sea.
- Incheon Bridge About 21 km long and open since October 2009, linking Songdo International City with Yeongjong (Incheon City). KTO calls it the longest bridge in Korea.
- Cheongna Sky Bridge The third Yeongjong bridge, operating since 5 January 2026 with a viewing deck on its main tower (IFEZ). Incheon City says it is the only one of the three with pedestrian and bicycle lanes, and that the deck, 184 m above sea level, is the highest observation deck on a sea bridge worldwide.
- Yeongjong Bridge The 4.4 km bridge between the Incheon mainland and the island, carrying road and rail. KTO describes it as the world's first 3-D self-anchored suspension bridge.
- Sinsimodo and the small islands KTO's 2024 guide puts Sinsimodo, with its beach sculpture garden, 10 minutes from Yeongjongdo, and Incheon City's 2025 feature says boats from Sammok Wharf on Yeongjong reach Sindo, Sido and Modo.
- Korean culture at the terminals KTO lists hanbok experiences on the 4th floor of both terminals, near Gate 11 at Terminal 1 and Gate 268 at Terminal 2, and a royal-procession reenactment at 11:00 and 14:00, daily at Terminal 1 and Sunday to Tuesday at Terminal 2 (page updated October 2025).
One easy day from here
- Morning Land and ride the all-stop Airport Railroad to Unseo (14 minutes from Terminal 2 on the airport's route diagram) or Yeongjong (18 minutes), and leave your bags.
- Late morning Take a taxi to Masian Beach for wetland and sand at once, with Silmido offshore.
- Afternoon Wangsan Beach, more relaxed than Eurwangni in KTO's words, or the Yeongjong Seaside Rail Bike over the western sea.
- Sunset Eurwangni Beach, by bus 204 or taxi, for the sunsets KTO says it is known for.
- Next morning Back on the all-stop train to Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 for your flight.
Before you book
- Book by flight time. KTO notes that most public transport into central Seoul stops around 23:30, so a landing after that, or a dawn check-in, is the reason to sleep on Yeongjong.
- Ride the all-stop train. Incheon City describes the Airport Railroad Express as non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station, so it never calls at Unseo or Yeongjong.
- The beaches have no station. Plan on bus 204, which stops at Eurwangni Beach, and taxis for Wangsan and Masian.
- Since 1 July 2026, addresses here read Yeongjong-gu, separated from Jung-gu's Yeongjong area; older listings still say Jung-gu for the same island.
Questions visitors ask
How close is Unseo to the airport?
Very close. On the airport's route diagram for the all-stop Airport Railroad, Unseo comes 14 minutes after Terminal 2, and Terminal 1 sits at the 6-minute mark on the same line, with only Cargo Terminal between Terminal 1 and Unseo. Yeongjong Station follows at 18 minutes. Take the all-stop train: the Express runs non-stop to Seoul Station.
Does the AREX Express stop at Unseo or Yeongjong?
No. Incheon City describes the Express as non-stop between the airport and Seoul Station, about 51 minutes. General trains take about 66 minutes, stop at 13 stations and run every 12 minutes, and they are the ones that call at Unseo and Yeongjong on the airport's diagram.
Which Yeongjong beach is better for sunset?
Either. KTO says Eurwangni Beach is known for amazing sunsets and that Wangsan Beach is famous for its view of the setting sun, designated the first of the Eight Sites of Yongyu. Choose Wangsan for a calmer evening, since KTO calls it more relaxed, and Eurwangni if you are coming by bus: route 204 stops there.
How do I get from Yeongjong to Songdo?
Over Incheon Bridge, about 21 km long and open since October 2009 (Incheon City). KTO says the crossing takes within 20 minutes. By rail, ride the Airport Railroad to Gyeyang and change to Incheon Subway Line 1, which serves Central Park Station in Songdo.
