Haeundae or Gwangalli?
Busan's two great beaches sit side by side on Metro Line 2. Haeundae is the famous one, with the island walk, the aquarium and a direct airport bus. Gwangalli faces the lit Gwangandaegyo Bridge and owns the night.
The verdict
For a first visit, a family trip or the film festival, choose Haeundae: Korea's best-known beach, Dongbaekseom Island and SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium on foot, Airport Limousine 1 to the beach, and Busan Cinema Center at Centum City on the same Line 2. For night views, bars, the Saturday drone show and the Fireworks Festival, choose Gwangalli: its strip of restaurants, cafés and bars faces the bridge, and the fireworks are staged on its beach. Haeundae wins by day; Gwangalli wins by night.

Questions visitors ask
Which is better for families, Haeundae or Gwangalli?
Haeundae. SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium faces the beach, the walking path around Dongbaekseom Island is open 24 hours, the beach has showers and changing rooms, and Blueline Park runs a beach train and sky capsules. Airport Limousine 1 stops at the beach, so arrival day is easy too.
When is the Gwangalli drone show?
Every Saturday at 20:00 and 22:00, and at 19:00 and 21:00 from October to February. It is free, and it flies over Gwangalli Beach, so a room near Gwangan Station puts you a walk from the show.
How far apart are Haeundae and Gwangalli?
Close. Both are on Metro Line 2, with Millak Waterfront Park between them, so you can stay in one and reach the other without changing trains.
