Arrival essentials
A connection for check-in and getting around
Before choosing a SIM or eSIM, decide whether you need internet access only or also Korean calls and messages. The product name alone may not tell you.
Check your device and plan
Confirm that your phone supports the product and is not restricted to your home carrier. Read activation instructions, validity, coverage, hotspot rules and any speed limits. Keep the instructions available before arrival rather than relying on an airport connection.
Ask what the number can do
Check separately whether a plan provides a Korean number, receives calls or texts, and allows outgoing calls. Identity verification and app acceptance can have additional conditions; a local number is not a promise that every booking or delivery app will work.
Keep an offline arrival card
Save your accommodation's Korean address, booking reference and arrival instructions. Confirm how the property communicates if you cannot make voice calls. Review the actual carrier's conditions before purchase.
